Horny goat weed is the stem and leaves of the Berberi plant Epimedium, which grows in shaded forests and bushes, in damp ravines, under bamboo forests on hillsides or in rock crevices beside roads. It is distributed in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Shaanxi,and Gansu in China.
