Garlic extract is the garlic allicin. Allicin is an organosulfur compound extracted from the bulb (garlic head) of the garlic which belongs to the allium family. Allicin has a strong antibacterial effect. It can inhibit a variety of gram-positive cocci and gram-negative bacilli at very low concentrations, and also has inhibitory effects on the molds, viruses, protozoa, and pinworms. In agriculture, it is used as insecticide and fungicide, and also in feed, food and medicine.
