Artemisia annua extract powder is a natural plant extract obtained from the dried aerial parts of Artemisia annua, an annual herb native to Asia and widely known as Sweet Wormwood or Sweet Annie.
It mainly contains flavonoids, coumarins, terpenes, phenylpropionic acids, volatile oils and other artemisinins.
It has pharmacological effects, including antimalarial, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, antischistosomal, and antiparasitic activities; immune and tumor-inhibitory effects; and cardiovascular effects.

Antimalarial effect
Artemisinin can significantly inhibit the growth of Plasmodium falciparum clones and has a direct killing effect. Studies believe that the antimalarial mechanism of artemisinin drugs mainly inhibits cytochrome oxidation by reducing artemisinin, thereby inhibiting the plasmodium membrane, blocking the supply of nutrients from the host erythrocyte plasma, and causing the death of the protozoa.
