Thyme is a plant of the Labiatae family in the order Tuberaceae. It can be used as an ingredient with a pungent flavor. The whole herb is used as medicine. It is harvested in summer when the branches are in full bloom, the whole plant is plucked, washed, the roots are cut off, and the segments are cut and used fresh or dried in the sun. It is mainly produced in Gansu, Shaanxi, Qinghai, Shanxi, Hebei, and Inner Mongolia and in China.
