Red Peony Root Description

Chinese herb red peony root also called paeoniae rubra radix is the dry root of the ranunculaceae plant red peony or Paeonia veitchii Lynch. It is distributed in Northeast China, North China, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan and Tibet in China. The red peony is excavated in spring and autumn of which rhizomes, fibrous roots and sediment are removed, and is dried in the sun.
