The traditional Chinese herb rehmannia root is the rhizome of the rehmannia glutinosa libosch, when sun dried it becomes dried rehmannia root . Prepared rehmannia root is made by repeatedly steaming and drying of dried rehmannia root with amomum, wine and dried tangerine peel until the color turns black and the texture is soft. The pharmacological effects of dried rehmannia root and prepared rehmannia root are different, and the two herbs must not be used interchangeably.
