Valerian herb is the rhizome and root of Valeriana officinalis L., a plant of the Valerianaceae family. Valerian herb is distributed in Hebei, Northeast China, Shandong, Hunan, and Hubei in China. It also can be cultivated in some areas. The roots and rhizomes are excavated in autumn, then washed and dried.
