Frost has a great impact on the growth of Schisandra chinensis. Normally, once an abnormal weather occurs, there will only be a partial reduction in production, but it will not cause a reduction in production in the entire production area. However, in 2022, there will be 4 extreme low temperature weather in Schisandra chinensis, of which as the main production area, Liaoning was severely affected (Liaoning has a lot of flat land, so it is more severely frozen), and Jilin and Heilongjiang were also affected to a certain extent.
Under the influence of the above-mentioned extreme weather, the production has been severely reduced. We can see from the processing time of fresh fruits this year. In previous years, the processing period of home-grown products was generally 20-30 days. This year, the processing period of fresh products only took 1 week. According to the statistics, the output of schisandra in 2022 will be 2,000-2,500 tons, which is nearly half of the output of 3,500-4,000 tons last year. This can be seen from the amount of inventory in the hands of operators. If operators have more than 100 tons of goods in their hands in previous years, this year it will only be 50-60 tons.
At the same time, with the rise of the grain market, many products’ price have been raised accordingly, and the processing cost of Schisandra has also increased a lot.
